FAQ

Straight answers.

The short version of the rules, for people who won't read the whole page. If anything here ever disagrees with the Rules, the Rules win.

Is this a scam?

Fair question. Here's what we can show you: every dollar is recorded on a public ledger with receipts, every vote is public, and the founder's pay formula is written down in the open with a hard cap. Right now $0 has been collected and $0 paid — payments are disabled until the legal setup is done. Don't take our word for anything; watch the ledger when there is one.

Where does the $25 a month go?

$20 goes to your town's goal fund — the one voted goal your community is building. $5 goes to operations: the team, the tools, and the founder's pay formula. Processing fees come out first. That's the whole split.

Who decides what gets built?

Members do. Anyone can propose an idea, everyone votes, and the final week's winner becomes the goal the fund builds. The founder gets one vote and no veto — on anything, including his own pay.

Do I have to pay to vote?

No. Joining, posting ideas, and voting are free, and free members' votes count exactly the same as paying members'. That means free members can outvote paying members on money decisions — that's the design, stated plainly.

Is my vote secret?

No. Every vote is public by design — open ballots, open ledger, open debates. If you need your vote to be private, this isn't the app for that.

What does the founder get paid?

A fixed formula, paid only from the operations side — never from the $20 goal fund. It scales down as membership grows and is hard-capped at $1.75 million gross per month. Every payment goes on the public ledger. The formula can only be changed by a member vote under the rules — see the rules.

When does it launch?

When the legal setup is done: the legal entity exists, the terms are written, and a lawyer has cleared how money is handled. Until then this is a pre-launch prototype — you can explore, but no real money moves. Get one email when it opens.

What if a project stalls or turns out impossible?

Every 30 days, the town votes: keep funding it, or move on. Money set aside for a dropped project sits in the big-project savings for the next winning idea — nothing gets quietly moved. You can cancel anytime and no future charges happen. What happens to pooled money if the service itself ever shuts down is being written with the lawyer before launch.

Who actually runs the project in my town?

Each community elects its own planner — the local person who runs the funded goal day to day. The planner serves a 12-month term but can be replaced at any time by majority vote. The planner's pay is voted on like any other expense.

Who posts the updates?

Each community elects 3 speakers — the members who post the daily updates and project timelines, down to the penny. They're elected monthly by support votes (12-month terms), they're unpaid, and they can be removed at any time by majority vote. Speakers don't touch money, don't pick winners, and don't override votes.

How do I know the numbers are real?

The Watch > Money page shows money in, money out, and running balances with receipts, invoices, and bank records. Today it honestly shows $0 — because $0 is the truth right now.

How old do I have to be?

18 or older at launch — that's the plan, pending legal review. It's not enforced in the prototype yet.

How is one person kept to one vote?

At launch, everyone is ID-verified before they can do anything — a state ID or driver's license, checked through a verification vendor. In the prototype, no real identity verification runs yet. If you can't get a state ID, another government-issued photo ID (passport, military ID, tribal ID) works through the same check. We never store your ID documents ourselves. No document, no account — no exceptions.
